NAKA, the National Association of Korean Americans is holding an essay competition :
Create Your Own Road Map Towards Peace in the Korean Peninsula!
Korea remains the only divided nation in the world, with ongoing military tension and threat of another war. Although there were periods of hope, reconciliation and propects for peace and reunification, especially in 2000 through the June 15th South-North Korea Joint Declaration, and the Declaration on the Advancement of South-North Korean Relations, Peace and Prosperity on October 4th, 2007, the situation has since regressed and tensions remain high today.
The Essay Context Rules and Guidelines
What ideas would you propose to reduce tensions in the Korean Peninsula and to bring about more lasting peace and prospects for the reunification of Korea? (Include historical efforts towards peace and reconciliation and your visions for the future)
$1000 each to winners in high school and college/undergraduate categories
$500 each to three runner-up winners in each category
1. The contest is open to any student in the said categories residing or studying in the U.S.
2. Submission should be in English, sent in via email, 2000-4000 words, with proper citations and references as needed (which do not count towards the word count)
3. On a separate sheet, under the title of the essay, include name, grade, school and contact information (email, phone, mailing address)

4. The deadline for submission is July 27, 2015. The wiinners will be announced August 15, 2015.
*Winners shall allow NAKA to publish essay or use excerpts in its promotional materials
A committee of judges composed of experts will consider creativity, originality, applicability and presentation.
